As I’m writing this, I’m listening to the Falcon 9’s launch preparations (T-2hours). It’s the Crew Dragon’s second attempt since the first launch was delayed last Wednesday. No one but Elon Musk and his team could have predicted this moment ten years ago. After uncountable hours of preparation and challenges along the way, the only hurdles that separate them from achieving their next milestone to make our species interplanetary is the weather (a 50% chance).
He and his team had a clear vision and didn’t back down when things got tough. He has been very close to going bankrupt but always finds a way. Understands and accepts the risks. Not even Covid could stop this today, only the weather. Be sure if the launch is a no Go today, there will be more attempts, his resilience is legendary and he’s proving skeptics wrong with time.
Demo-2 is the final major test for SpaceX’s human spaceflight system to be certified by NASA for operational crew missions to and from the International Space Station. SpaceX is returning human spaceflight to the United States with one of the safest, most advanced systems ever built, and NASA’s Commercial Crew Program is a turning point for America’s future in space exploration that lays the groundwork for future missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
