Cognitive Reframing

Cognitive Reframing is a psychological technique which identifies and then disputes irrational or maladaptive thoughts. It involves changing perceptions and patterns of negative thinking to reduce their impact.
Cognitive Reframing is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy. It involves recognizing maladaptive cognitive patterns that lead to dysfunctional behaviors or feelings, challenging the validity of those thoughts, and replacing them with healthier and more rational thoughts. For example, a person who often thinks 'I always fail at everything I do' can challenge this by listing successes and reframe it to 'I have many accomplishments and also areas I can improve upon.'.
