Fogg Behavior Model

The Fogg Behavior Model highlights three factors necessary for behavior change: motivation, ability, and a prompt. It is widely used in designing persuasive marketing campaigns.
The Fogg Behavior Model, developed by BJ Fogg, postulates that three elements must be simultaneously present for a desired behavior to occur: motivation, ability, and a trigger. Motivation relates to the underlying reasons why someone would want to perform the behavior. Ability refers to how easy or difficult it is to perform the behavior, and the prompt or trigger is the cue that initiates the behavior. For instance, in marketing, a company may motivate customers by highlighting the benefits of a new product, make purchasing easy through a streamlined website, and prompt action with a timely email reminder.
