Imaginary Constraints

This mental model pertains to the self-imposed limitations individuals place on themselves, which can obstruct creativity, problem-solving, and progress.
Imaginary constraints refer to the irrational assumptions or beliefs we hold that limit our potential and obstruct our creativity. These are self-imposed limitations, which exist only in our mind, not based on reality. For example, a person might limit their career choices because they believe they're 'not good at math,' even if they've never tested this belief or sought ways to improve their math skills. By recognizing and challenging these imagined constraints, one can open up new opportunities for creativity, problem-solving, and personal growth.
The only limits that exist are the ones in your own mind. - Anonymous
