The Einstellung Effect

The Einstellung effect is a psychological phenomenon that holds a person's predisposition to resolve issues based on habitual methods even when superior solutions are available.
This mental model explains the tendency of individuals to use familiar procedures over potentially better ones. For example, when using a computer, people tend to stick to a software they're conversant with rather than learning new ones that might be more efficient. This involuntary action hinders creative problem-solving and can be counteracted by consciously challenging one’s assumptions and encouraging open-mindedness.
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them. - Albert Einstein
