The Halo Effect is a cognitive bias where positive initial impressions influence overall perception of a person, often skewing it in a positive direction regardless of reality.
The Halo Effect helps explain why first impressions are so powerful. If someone makes a good initial impression, we are more likely to judge their later behavior more positively. For example, if a person is physically attractive, we may also perceive them as smarter, kinder, and more talented, even if these traits are not objectively true. This human tendency can also be seen in educational, work, and social environments, often affecting our decisions even when we try to be objective.
"We see people not as they are, but as we are." - Anais Nin
